Adam M. Umek
Associate
Adam M. Umek graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2024 and ranked fourth in his class. He received the Hellene & Edward Fioretti Award for outstanding achievement in the courses of Professional Responsibility and Ethics and received Cali awards in the courses of Professional Reponsibility and Real Estate Transactions.
He was sworn into the Illinois Bar in November 2024. During his time at NIU Law Adam was a member of the NIU Students’ Legal Assistance Office, which offered free legal advice and legal services to University students. In that role, he assisted the University attorney with preparation of legal documents, attended court, and conducted student interviews.
Prior to law school, Adam graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Minor in History. Having grown up in Joliet, Adam also attended Joliet Junior College and graduated from Joliet Central High School. Prior to becoming an attorney, he held various positions in both the corporate and the legal fields.
Adam began working for Mahoney, Silverman and Cross, LLC in the Summer of 2023, before his final year at NIU Law. During this time, he gained experience in many different legal areas and co-authored a legal article with Partner Hannah R. Lamore, which was published in the newsletter of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Section on Civil Practice & Procedure.
Adam currently focuses his practice on municipal prosecution, evictions, and real estate and municipal law.
